Project POMEIL

Promotion of Migrant Entrepreneurship and Integration in the European Labor Market

We are happy to announce the launch of the new European Union co-founded initiative, that we are a part of! Project POMEIL – Promotion of Migrant Entrepreneurship and Integration in the European Labor Market officially started in September 2024 and it tackles the issue of existing difficulties faced by immigrants and refugees during attempts to access the job market of their host countries. As data shows, as many as 2.3 million persons immigrated to the EU from non-EU countries in 2021 (Eurostat, 2023). This situation, coupled with the increased migrant movement caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine, has led to significant changes in the occupational landscape of these countries. One of the main identified solutions aiming at the socioeconomic integration of refugees is entrepreneurial activity (Dabic, 2020). However, this path of development is often not easily available for migrants due to their lack of experience, available resources, linguistic barriers, and lack of cross-cultural soft skills.

The goal of Project POMEIL is to address these issues by the provision of upskill opportunities and high-quality knowledge and competencies transfer conducted with the utilization of innovative learning methods, aimed at both migrants and educators. The successful project completion will result in the creation of three main outputs:

  • POMEIL Competence Map serving as the compilation of findings of several research phases focused on discovering competencies necessary for immigrants to possess in order to successfully enter the entrepreneurial market;

  • POMEIL Training Package containing various valuable educational materials, such as modules of learning course (available on online e-learning platform), storylines, scenario cards, puzzle cards, visual aids, digital escape rooms, and Trainer Guidebook for educators;

  • pilot phase of Digital Escape Rooms – a series of activities leading to ensuring the correct implementation and successful conduction of the first hybrid learning events, preceded by Train-the-trainers LTTA, and followed by the creation of the Lessons Learned and Capitalization Guidebook.
